Telford Steam Railway’s Polar Express, a hugely popular festive event, has been cancelled this year because of the coronavirus pandemic.

This British heritage line has organised the Polar Express train service in recent years, allowing families and friends to board a train decorated like the one in the hit animated film and to enjoy refreshments along the journey. It has been a major fundraiser for the railway.

A statement from the board of directors said it would be “irresponsible to put any lives at risk.” It went on to state: “This is one of the hardest decisions we have had to make as this event has a massive impact to our railway business, but the health of you and your family is more important to us especially around the festive period.”
