LadBaby has claimed this year’s Official UK Christmas Number One single with his twist on the song “We Built This City”.

The YouTube dad blogger (real name Mark Hoyle),  his wife Roxanne and two sons recorded their own version of Starship’s 1985 hit as an ode to sausage rolls rather than rock and roll. Proceeds from the single go to foodbank charity The Trussell Trust.

“We Built This City” is the first novelty song to claim the Christmas top spot in 18 years, since Bob The Builder’s “Can We Fix It?” in 2000.

Mariah Carey leads the list of festive classics in this year’s Official Christmas Chart with “All I Want For Christmas Is You” at Number 4, followed by “Last Christmas” by Wham! at 7.

The UK Album Number One for Christmas  is the soundtrack to the film “The Greatest Show”, which has now totalled 23 non-consecutive weeks at the top off the charts.
