Two special animations for all the family are coming to BBC television this Christmas. “Mimi and the Mountain Dragon”, a children’s book by Sir Michael Morpurgo, has been turned into an animated feature. The author will introduce the story, which will be accompanied by music from Oscar-winning composer Rachel Portman.

In keeping with a recent BBC tradition, a Julia Donaldson children’s book is being brought to life for the small screen. “The Snail and the Whale” – about a snail who hitches a ride on a whale’s back in order to travel the world – will employ the voiceover talents of Sally Hawkins, Rob Brydon and Dame Diana Rigg.
